Gene Editors of the Future
Research and training in CRISPR/Cas9 human genome engineering, followed by public engagement at a Genetics Society outreach event at the Royal Institution, London.

The programme
Gene Editors of the Future is run by the Genome Engineering Laboratory at the University of Westminster, created and led by Dr Kalpana Surendranath.
- Gene Editors of the Future 2.0 (October 2022 – January 2023): online research and training on the basics of CRISPR/Cas9 human genome engineering.
- Gene Editors of the Future (2023): practical CRISPR-Cas9 training, alongside core molecular biology techniques: qPCR, electrophoresis, cloning and Western blotting.
Outreach at the Royal Institution
In 2023 I represented the programme at a Genetics Society outreach event at the Royal Institution in London. With other members of the programme I presented a poster and talked with members of the public about CRISPR: where it came from in bacterial immunity, how it is used today, and what it could do next.
